what was the cam lift again 11mm?

They are marked as 11mm. But measured closer to 10.5mm with the calipers.
Once I get the clearances set I'll check it on the valve bucket itself.

I had to modify the intake side around the bucket bores but the exhaust side was fine.

Well I wanted to just go into Repco or such and find some plugs that'll screw in but were shorter... but they wanted to charge me $30ea for just normal crap.

So I went back to the interwebz and found out about these super fancy Denso ones and tracked down somewhere I could buy em. Yes they were pricey, but it solved my clearance problem, for not much more than getting something local... and I have pretty much the best spark plug money can buy, lol.

^ Took it for its first drive on the road on Saturday.
Down the Gillies range... damn this thing corners well!

And even without a tune the engine is awesome... I had forgotten, lol.

Really needs a new gearbox tho. Jumping out of 3rd and 4th is really bad, plus I need to take it out to adjust the clutch as its hard to get into gear unless your at full pedal travel.

Had a small overheating issue too... With the heater turned on (coolant going thru the heater core) the temp gauge was perfect... sat in the middle, jumped up a bit with some torture...
But with the heater off... temp gauge went thru the roof! I pulled over to check what was going on but couldn't see anything...
Thermo fan was working and the rad wasn't that hot... could still touch it.

So far the only thing I can think is the thermostat isn't opening so the only circulation of water is thru the bypass pipe from the head to the pump and the heater core which is just enough to keep the engine cool.
Once I turn the heater off tho its only going thru that tiny bypass pipe and over heating.

Also the starter motor gave me the click of death! Grr

So yeah, I was at Steve's place to borrow some MA61 rims and stock bonnet, I've changed the starter, gonna chuck in a new thermostat this afternoon and got a mod plate booked for tomorrow.
