AEU86 admin (and all-round JDM freak!) Banpei has a great FAQ style article on one of those wacky AE86 optional extras: the Levin rotating grille! If you simply HAVE to know about everything ’86 (and I’d like to think you all do!) then head over there and check it out!

AutoArt 1/18 AE86 Initial-D Tuned Version

A2

Oh yes! When we asked for a ‘Project D version’ of the AE86 from AutoArt all those months ago, it seems someone had listened! AutoArt has another exquisite 1/18 scale hachiroku for you avid toy collectors to purchase and add to your fleet! Unfortunately still missing the AE101 ‘TRD Spec’ 4A-GE from the actual Project D version of the car, it still makes for a pretty nice piece of desk art.

Priced @ $129USD it isn’t cheap, but for you highrollers out there, you can pick it up over at AutoArt with some of that Stimulus package (if you have any left!). Hit the jump for more photos!

Tec-Art’s OS Piston Set

tecartspistons

Calling it the ‘Forged Hyper Piston Set’, Tec-Art’s have released a bunch of new oversized piston sets for you guys out there who aren’t so much fans of stroking (ba dum chh)… The sets come in 81.5φ, 82φ and for the insane an 83φ version too. That said to use the massive 83 spec set, extra modifications to the usual are required and the use of an 82.5φ head gasket is a must (which luckily enough can be purchased from Tec-Art’s also!)

If you’re up for getting stroked (.. sorry I just can’t resist) check out the Tec-Art’s engine parts page here.

How-To: Rear Over-Fenders

flares_header

So you’ve finally got those 10.5-inch, negative-offset R.S. Watanabe Eight-Spokes you were drooling after for so many months but now you have to face that question: How do I make them fit?

There’s a few ways to sort it out but the most popular solutions are blister-fenders or ‘bolt-on’ flares. Depending of your choice of flare (N2 TRD, CBY, RunFree, J-Blood, Origin) there are small but very important steps to fitting them perfectly and making sure your car isn’t left open to structural rusting because of it!

Courtesy of Crystal Body Yokoyama, we have the definitive guide to fitting those rear over-fenders.

Tec-Art’s New Urethane Bushing Range

tecarts_bushings

Released only last week, the new range of Tec-Art’s urethane bushings look damn good, if the photos are anything to go by! In the same colour as the all-familiar ‘drift pineapples’ made famous by Uras, they are offering a selection of transmission mount stiffener inserts, traditional suspension-arm kits and some nice rack bushings for both manual and power steering equipped AE86’s.

We Aussies are lucky to have no less than 3 different urethane bushing manufacturers here in Oz, but these Japanese-quality items might just be what you other international guys are looking for. Hit up the Tec-Art’s website for the specifications and high-res pictures.

New MCNSPORT ’86 Suspension

mcn_sport_sussy

It’s always being discussed “What is the best suspension for the AE86?” I think most people will agree that TRD comes out on top with their mix of shortstroke design and adjustability. The problem is that the TRD suspension is only available from Japan and is quiet expensive and now with the Yen being so strong prices have risen again.

Well MCNSPORT in Ireland have got a solution. They be launching a new range of AE86 suspension specially designed with the same valving as the TRD shortstroke adjustables.

Darren McNamara owner of MCNSPORT and drifter extraordinare has this to say about his companys new suspension:

We are working in collaboration with a very well known suspension company to improve on the suspension designs already available for the AE86 while making our new range extremely affordable.

Get the full tech specs, more pictures and stay in the know over on the thread @ AEU86 forums.

AJPS Traction Brackets

tractionbracket3

Being AE86 owners ourselves, we see a lot of AE86 parts day to day; most of them manufactured in other countries like Japan and America. So it’s refreshing to see a product that is Australian made and also particularly quirky product at that. Again Dave from AJPS has got his hands dirty and come up with a solution to all you out there running T18/Celica/Borg Warner drum-brake diffs. There are lots of products to suit the T-series AE86 disc brake diff’s but not many for our other scavenger-esque modifiers.

The traction brackets fix pinion angle issues in lowered cars and adds traction/anti squat to the rear wheels. They also return the rear end suspension to factory geometry for factory traction values. They’re Australian made quality and guaranteed to fit!

One buyer has said:

“I was running wide on the high speed corners at Mallala, but now the car has so much more grip.”

Check out the technical specs and the special ‘ HR Blog’ price after the jump!
