Over a year ago Garth posted the following comment about a Corolla GT-S with a pair of Cefiro A31 headlights.

We are ok with the idea of transplanting Nissan parts into AE86’s but this is taking it a little too far…

Apparently some people did not read his comment well enough! The Levin in the picture also had a Nissan headlight and grille swap and this time the donor was a sister of the Cefiro A31: if you squint your eyes the Levin magically transforms into a Nissan Laurel C33!

What if you like the looks of an old retro Toyota, like for example the Toyota Corolla Levin AE86, and you would like the car to have the engine in the back for better handling? You create the MR86 of course!

Yes, it was. You can imagine my surprise when one of the Club4AG boys told me my car was in an American chewing gum tv ad. What the? A friend of mine, Felix Alim, had taken the shot on one of our drives through the Old Pacific Hwy and somehow these people in an American advertising agency found it and used it. Pity they couldn’t get the interior right eh?

Apparently it’s a Daihatsu of some kind…. But seriously, the money spent on doing this could probably have bought an AE86 anyway! Crazy!

The only saving grace is that its reversible… poor little AE86…
