Today we have the first of a few interviews on the people behind the HR blog.  Adam is one of the driving forces behind HR Blog’s editorial content and specifically the writer of the much loved AE86 Tuning Guide. We catch up and talk shop with a die-hard member of the ‘AE86 For Life’ crew.

When The Going Gets Tough

hardtimes

Who is angry, upset or just basically let down? Let down by who? The one we spoke so highly of early this month! Yes that little vixen on four wheels with curves that we drool for! Do you ever get that feeling your car has the personality of a vegan super model feminist who will only put out once a month?

Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright

ae86top02

What is it with us and the AE86!? Why are some of us so obsessed and moved by this particular hunk of Japanese steel from the era of Zipps, acid wash j, Fluro shirts and Atari?? This is a question that I seem to be asking myself more and more as of late.

Could it be cause I’ve now got a finished lemon dipped Hachi Roku or the fact everyone that surrounds me is as infatuated with this 1980s legend of the 1600cc class? Is it this constant lifestyle that I’m apart of that is to blame?

It could also be the car too: I identify with it. It’s the symbol of my outward personal self- the small one that just keeps pushing and never backs down. Or it could be that this car just like the right girl or same boy (Matt? :P) can just feel so right from the start?

End Of The Road For Another ’86 Driver

chickens_header

When Garth asked me what I was writing about this week I was somewhat stumped. With my head being currently focused on only one thing at the moment – finishing my drift project – it was proving difficult to give him an answer.

Then I was chatting to a fellow sideways pilot Brad and discovered that he was moving on and selling his AE86 to pursue another route in life. At that point I thought of two things 1. SHIT Brad you are crazy! 2. SHIT! I should do a article on his car before it changes hands!

Shop Review: Westside Exhausts

westside

Some of you may or may not know, but for the last 4 months I have been completely rebuilding my Trueno into a huge money pit…. I mean into a 4A-GTE equipped drift weapon. Since it is finally at the stage where the exhaust and intercooler piping needed to be made, I could have just done it myself like I have done in the past, but I thought this time if I was going to all the extra effort in other areas on the car, then this could not be half arsed!

Interview: ’86 Drifter Sam Holz

A member of the original HR crew, Sam is one of Queensland’s finest sideways pilots: A laid back, smart arse of a character who is always up for some ’86 thrash action. In 2008 Sam has continually found himself at the top of drift competitions all across Australia, all the while leaving out the egotistical bullsh*t we all too often see in the world of drifting. Planning Your ’86 Experience

So Garth wrote earlier about how the economy has hit us hard like a bad case of regret from that beer goggled girlie from last Friday night! But hey, unlike that one night we can do something about getting the parts we need and building our dream cars.

Now forgetting the economy and the cruel beeyatch she is for a moment, we can use today’s blog as a guide on how anyone in any situation or age can reach their goal. Speaking of which that’s the first subject!

Everyone Loves A Sweet Rack

AJPS is normally the four letters you will hear after someone asks where can I get some fly shit for my Toyota? Well hold on to your flat brims cause AJPS are pulling out all the stops for the new year. That means either making or bringing in the bits you normally have a hard time getting or haven’t been made yet, and today’s blog is exactly on the money!

What Dave at AJPS is offering to all you lucky cats today is steering rack bushings. ‘Oh whoopee’ you say like my whole intro did nothing for the outcome…. But think about it for a second – the rack bushings are one of the items that connects your steering to the road and is responsible for steering feedback and those annoying shakes you get from your ‘negative-six-demon-camber-Hachi-Roku’ when rolling at over 60kmph.

Still not sold? How about going and having a look under your car and see the condition the stock ones are in now? Ok did I mention these are only $44AUD including shipping (within AUS)? Now compare that to bog stock Toyota ones which are a whopping $120 NOT including shipping!

These bushes are made in conjunction with AJPS and Super Pro Bushings. These are specifically made for the AE86 and our “spirited” style of driving. They will be available for shipping end of this month and are available for everyone to purchase, even Polar Bears in the Arctic Circle! So yes – worldwide!

That means all our Euro brothers, NZ cousins and USA mates can get their hands on these (shipping price may differ). So join the 80+ people that already have their names down for this awesome, simple and inexpensive product! This is great product for anyone if you are a regular track demon or just like a daily touge driver this is a product for everyone! GET ON IT and register in the thread now or contact Dave @ AJPS on ajpsautoparts@gmail.com or by phone on 0407 716 089.

Keep your eyes peeled for a fitment guide coming up!
